Kinomai Curcumin capsules combine three powerful therapeutic ingredients to fight inflammation, help the functioning of the body’s vascular system, and support healthy joints. Let’s take a closer look at how the ingredients work together.
Turmeric has been used in traditional medicine in India for centuries to quell inflammation. Turmeric root is a member of the ginger family, and curcumin refers to the chemical compounds that give the spice its yellow colour. It’s this curcumin component, a powerful antioxidant, that has generated a significant body of scientific research over the last half century or so. An American Botanical Council review describes curcumin as having a broad array of properties: anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, liver protective, antitumor, wound-healing, and fungus-inhibiting properties, to name just a few. Curcumin’s anti-inflammatory properties are so remarkable that it has been called a master switch for the body’s inflammatory response
The challenge with curcumin on its own has been its low stability and bioavailability. However, Phytosome® technology, a new patented drug delivery system, resolves this problem by binding the curcumin with lecithin, allowing it to cross into your body’s cells and be absorbed. This results in a dramatic 29-fold increase in bioavailability, which reduces the effective dose requirements. A recent eight-month clinical evaluation of the effects of this Phytosome version of curcumin (known as Meriva®) in patients with osteoarthritis found that, when compared with a control group of untreated patients, the patients taking Meriva® scored a full 60% better in terms of pain, stiffness, and overall physical functioning. St. Francis Herb Farm includes Meriva® as the lead ingredient in our Kinomai Curcumin capsules.
Support vascular health
Kinomai Curcumin capsules also contain Enovita® Grape Seed Extract. This standardized extract, made from white grapes, contains healing plant compounds called proanthocyanidins. Scientists have found a direct correlation between these compounds and vascular health, because proanthocyanidins promote the proper functioning of the cells that line the body’s blood vessels. Researchers have established that white grapes are in fact as rich as or even richer than red grapes when it comes to these compounds. Our Enovita® Grape Seed Extract has a particularly high proanthocyanidin content and has been shown to have a substantial impact on vascular health. For example, a recent clinical study, conducted on 119 healthy people with mild or borderline hypertension, finds that it significantly improves blood pressure and heart rate.
Healthy cartilage and connective tissues
To reinforce Kinomai Curcumin Capsule’s anti-inflammatory properties, we’ve added a third ingredient: MSM, which stands for Methyl Sulfonyl Methane. MSM is a naturally occurring sulphur compound crucial to the health of your entire body. A highly effective anti-inflammatory agent, MSM is used to treat osteoarthritis. Scientists have determined that the sulphur component of the body’s cartilage diminishes with age, causing a degeneration of the joints. Because it is rich in sulphur, MSM alleviates the pain of knee osteoarthritis.
Our Kinomai Curcumin Capsules are truly a remarkable product, combining the effects of three highly therapeutic ingredients into one formula—an ideal illustration of the intersection of science and the ageless wisdom of herbal medicine.
