Product Information

Surtica™ (Saw Palmetto Combo)

Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy

This herbal combination has been formulated for men with benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and its associated symptoms, such as difficulty in urination, excessive nighttime urination, frequent urination, painful urination, urinary retention or recurring bladder infections.

The ingredients are herbs with years of traditional use behind them. Modern clinical and laboratory work confirms that they are especially effective for problems arising from BPH.

Saw palmetto and nettle root both present a very strong historical record of traditional use for BPH. Modern clinical trials and research have corroborated the use of these herbs for BPH. Thuja has very strong historical justification as a treatment for BPH, being a favourite of the Eclectic school for this condition. Echinacea and golden rod deal primarily with the issue of infection. Both doctors and patients have valued this combination during the many years it has been in use.

Combinations to consider: Use in combination with Uritrin® if infection (cystitis, prostatitis or urethritis) is present. Also use EchinaSeal® if there is an acute infection of the urinary tract. Use in combination with Deep Immune® for a chronic tendency to develop infections of the urinary tract and for general stimulation of overall immunity.

Administration
Take 30-60 drops (1-2ml) three times daily in a little water, on an empty stomach.

Contra-indications and Cautions:
Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have been diagnosed with a medical condition or if you are taking prescription medications. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Discontinue use 2 weeks prior to surgery. Do no use if you have an allergy to the Asteraceae family. Reduce dosage or discontinue use if you experience a hypersensitivity reaction.

A NOTE ON TINCTURES

Tinctures are more readily absorbed by the body and have a high degree of bio-availability. As well, they have a long shelf life.

Sometimes people ask us why tinctures are alcohol-based. There are very good reasons. Alcohol is critically important in the extraction of an herb's medicinal ingredients. It also helps to stabilize and preserve them. Alcohol is the ideal carrier substance, conveying the therapeutic goodness of the herb to the body. In itself, too, science has proven that alcohol enhances the immune system and its defences.

As for the amount of alcohol taken in an average dose of tincture, you'll be surprised to learn that it's about the same as what you'd find in an overly ripe banana!

Tinctures remain the most practical way to take advantage of the amazing, health-giving power of herbs.
