Liver dysfunction and disease
This combination helps restore the liver—the only organ in the human body that can actually regenerate itself. The ingredients have hundreds of years of traditional use behind them. Modern clinical and laboratory work confirms that they are effective in protecting and restoring the liver, which not only aids digestion and the regulation of blood sugar, but also detoxifies the body.
This combination is used primarily:
• as a liver restorative
• to support liver detoxification
This synergistic combination is built around milk thistle as the principal ingredient. The restorative and protective functions of milk thistle are supported by the alterative action of dandelion and Oregon grape, the restorative action of Culver’s root, the antispasmodic effects of wild yam, and the choleretic properties of globe artichoke. Naturally, these herbs have many other positive effects on the liver, overlapping each other in their several actions, working together to regenerate and strengthen the liver.
Combinations to consider: Those suffering from infectious hepatitis can combine this formula with Deep Immune®. If the digestion is a problem, combine it with Canadian Bitters®, a great tonic for dyspepsia (poor digestion accompanied by gas and bloating). For sluggish bowels and constipation (one sign of compromised liver function), consider Hepato DR® in conjunction with BulkLax® and/or CasacaraLax®. For hemorrhoids (another sign of compromised liver function), consider it in tandem with Veinasis. In the case of dysmenorrhea (painful periods), combine it with Crampbark Single Tincture, inasmuch as menstrual irregularities are often associated with compromised liver function. For skin conditions (acne, eczema, and psoriasis), use it in conjunction with ClearGlow®.
Hepato DR® can be used with Deep Immune® and The 4 Herb Formula™ during cancer chemotherapy for protection against the harmful side effects. A word of caution is in order here. Such a course of treatment should be followed with the advice of your physician. This is not intended as a substitute for conventional therapies.
Administration: (adults) take 45-90 drops (1.5-3 ml) 3 times daily in a little water, after meals.
Contra-indications and Cautions: Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking prescription medications or if you have been diagnosed with liver, pancreatic, or gall bladder disease. Do not take when pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use if you are allergic to the Asteraceae (daisy) family. Do not give to small children or newborns. A NOTE ON TINCTURES
Tinctures are more readily absorbed by the body and have a high degree of bio-availability. As well, they have a long shelf life.
Sometimes people ask us why tinctures are alcohol-based. There are very good reasons. Alcohol is critically important in the extraction of an herb's medicinal ingredients. It also helps to stabilize and preserve them. Alcohol is the ideal carrier substance, conveying the therapeutic goodness of the herb to the body. In itself, too, science has proven that alcohol enhances the immune system and its defences.
As for the amount of alcohol taken in an average dose of tincture, you'll be surprised to learn that it's about the same as what you'd find in an overly ripe banana!
Tinctures remain the most practical way to take advantage of the amazing, health-giving power of herbs.
